Zugspitze

When I’m in Germany I always do a little mountaineering with my best friend Harry. This time he chose one a little higher than others – the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany at 2962m above sea level.
Of the three ways to go up, we decided to go via the Höllental (hell valley) which leads you through a narrow gorge up to the Münchner Haus. As you can see the weather was perfect. Two days earlier it snowed so it was still a little wintery up there.

The view after we came out from Höllentalklamm. The red arrow points to the peak.

The Einstieg, this is where the real climbing begins. When you look closely you can see two others who just started to go up.

Nearly there

All images were taken with point and shoot cameras. I wasn’t going to lug my big one up there :)

    Thank you :)
It is quite something to be surrounded by mountains if you live in Perth.

Very cool Johannes. I didn’t climb a mountain quite like that but your images and story bring back my own European adventure very vividly. Sehr schön!

  4. JR says:

Thanks Brett. To be honest, I haven’t climbed a mountain like that before either.
